DAKOTA RIDGE REMODEL - BOULDER, COLORADO

An existing 2 bedroom home in the Dakota Ridge neighborhood of Boulder, Colorado no longer met the needs of the owners.  Pel-Ona Architects and Urbanists were hired to design an addition that included an additional bedroom and roof top deck.  From the home's location in northeast Boulder, the roof top deck would allow expansive views of the front range.  Working within the constraints of the existing compact site and HOA requirements, the proposed design includes a new stairwell that while only connecting the 2nd and roof top floors is open all the way to the ground floor.  The existing garage is utilized as the main level of the addition, eliminating the need for additional foundations and maximizing the use of existing framing.
