Project Manager/Architectural Associate

Pel-Ona Architects & Urbanists is seeking a Project Manager/Architectural Associate!

We are seeking a Project Manager with 6-10 years of experience to join our firm in Boulder, Colorado. We work closely with development and construction teams building neighborhoods in the mountains and the Denver metro area. We are seeking a candidate to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary design team on all aspects of architecture, urban design and planning. Candidates must have knowledge and experience of construction techniques, be comfortable working on multiple projects at one time, be detail-oriented, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will be ready to hit the ground running, offering quality written and verbal communication, learning new skills quickly, working collaboratively with fellow team members and consultants, and handling a wide range of assignments. These include, but are not limited to, creating construction documents for single family, duplex, townhouse, apartment and mixed-use buildings; supporting / managing various project types and sizes, coordinating design efforts with engineering consultants including evaluation and recommendation of design solutions, engaging with clients, aiding in managing project budgets, schedules and programs. You will have opportunities to collaborate and assist with estimating fees, determining scope of work, and preparing proposals and contracts.

While the position’s role is primarily focused on architecture, typical planning projects may include feasibility studies, zoning and policy analysis, coordination with local governments and stake holders, annexation, site plan submittals, development code writing, public process and collaboration with affiliated engineering services.

Strong skills in AutoCAD are required, as well as experience in Photoshop, InDesign and SketchUp. The ideal candidate will thrive in a close and friendly working environment and be flexible enough to enjoy the range of responsibilities that come with working for a small firm.

Candidates must:

  • Possess a degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited university
  • Be familiar with local construction techniques
  • Exercise quality control of drawings and designs.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for client and multi-disciplinary sub-consultant team communications.
  • AutoCAD experience: 6 years (required)
  • Sketchup experience: 6 years (preferred)
  • Adobe Photoshop and InDesign experience: 6 years (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office experience: 6 years (required)
  • ArcGIS skill is a plus.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and be detailed oriented.
  • Be familiar with the goals and principles of New Urbanism.

This position includes the opportunity to work on land planning and entitlement for development related projects. These opportunities include:

  • Development of land plans
  • Collaboration with civil engineers, transportation engineers, landscape architects and government officials
  • Preparing zoning code revisions and crafting development codes
  • Assistance with structuring project contracts and periodic budget reviews
  • Management of meetings and preparation of agendas and meeting minutes
  • Help with facilitating public meetings and conducting research.

Compensation:

This position is 32-40 hours/week in our Boulder, Colorado office. These terms are flexible based on applicant’s needs.

$42,000 – $65,000 at 32 hours/week, Monday-Thursday
$65,000 – $78,000 at 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
